Who Are We?

We are three – Fran, Andy & Dot (the Sproodle).

Andy is a Yorkshire lad from Great Ayton and has spent over 20 years in London working in Marketing for companies such as Coca-Cola, Sky TV & This Works. Andy loves cycling, walking and food (buying, cooking & eating).

Fran is also a marketer, having worked at Coca-Cola, and then followed her passion for all things sweet by studying pastry and patisserie and working at a Borough Market cookery school.

Dot is a black and white Sproodle and loves exploring, sleeping and cuddles. She also loves food so fits right in.

Why Yorkshire?

We spent many happy years living in Ealing and The Elephant and Castle and we love London. However, after over 30 years working and living in the city we made the decision to leave London to start the next chapter of our lives and build a new home in North Yorkshire.

We found neglected Green End Farm in 2018 in the hamlet of Green End and immediately fell in love with the location and the views.

The Farm itself dates back to 1700 and consists of a house and a collection of outbuildings including a former cattle barn and stables. It is situated within 26 acres of Yorkshire moorland, including pretty woodland walks. Straightaway, we could sense this would be an amazing place to live but also with some love and a lick of paint, a beautiful holiday location for others to enjoy too.

Working closely with National Parks we began renovation work on the farm in 2019. Our vision has to been to create a contemporary home and holiday cottage business preserving the many traditional features and outstanding beauty of the buildings and their location.

We are so happy to have brought the farm and buildings back to life and excited to start sharing this fantastic location with family, friends and visitors.

Green End Farm Cottages opened in June 2021 and we have welcomed over 300 guests. We are pleased to say we have been recognised as a Champion by the North York Moors National Park. This is in recognition for being an ambassador for the beautiful place we live and work and for highlighting the very special qualities of the North York Moors.

Working with the community in 2024 we helped to launch and now run the Goathland Farmers Market. This happens on the third Saturday of the month from March to December.  It is a wonderful way to bring some of the great food producers in the North York Moors to the local community of Goathland. You can also find Green End Farm Kitchen at the market serving sweet & savoury treats and a hot brew.

The Building of Green End Farm Cottages

We bought Green End Farm in 2018 and after creating plans and gaining planning permissions we were able to start the work in 2019. Throughout 2020 we worked on the holiday cottages first and then eventually the old Farm house where we now live. Here are a few pictures of how the transformation took place.
